Cattai to the Blue Mountains

To continue on our days story we drove from Crosslands to Cattai, we didn’t want to spend too much time in this area but felt a drive was worthwhile. We were lucky alongside the road I spotted a bearded dragon basking on a stump. A kick swerve and use of brakes and we were out of the car and taking some photos. This was a feisty dragon and whilst the shots that I got Im not overly happy with Ben did take a decent one of me holding it. (1ds, 17-40, f8, 1/320).

After releasing the dragon back on his log we headed up into the mountains. Our aim today was to shoot an orchid that Ben and Phillipa found on a previous journey. This orchid was found past the Mt Banks turn off and within the Blue Mountains NP. This flower turned out to be the tiger orchid, Diuris sulphurea. This is another new species of orchid for me. This orchid like the previously posted donkey orchid trick native bees by resembling pea flowers. This species is slightly bigger and has different markings. (30d, 180mm, f7.1, 1/800, 400iso, reflected light).

The next part of our journey is over to Victoria Falls and Govetts lookout.
