South West Rocks

Ben and myself recently went on a trip to South West Rocks. This was primarily a diving trip and the ridiculously hot weather and the unfortunate case of sea sickness and snoring didnt leave much time for photography. The diving was great, feel free to check out the Dive bLog link to hear more about that. On the way up we went to a winery named which wasnt of much interest. I took a shot of a disused shed right next to the reception centre. To me that seemed odd… (1ds, 17-40, f7.1, 1/160th)

The other place we shot was the gaol at Trial Bay, now a historical place, after walking around the place for an hour I still dont have much more of an idea about exactly what it used to be. Im mixed up between migrants (like a detention centre) and criminals. From what Ive read the main reason it was there was to house criminals to build a break wall that they eventually gave up on after a storm destroyed it. Regardless, in the right light it could have made a good setting for some shots. Only problem was we didnt get the right light or even the opportunity to use it. Perhaps next time, as with diving this good there will be a next time. This is some of the arches in the gaol. (1ds, 17-40, f4, 1/1000 ?? What was I thinking).

Hopefully soon ill have something to shoot that is more to my style and liking. Back to work tomorrow so I will get the opportunity to shoot in the bush more often.
