Honeymoon Bay Day 1

The first full day of our trip consisted of an early morning run down to Target Beach, a great breakfast and then our first snorkle at a beach called long beach. During our first snorkle we encountered some rays, an octopus, a wobbygong, numerous pretty fish and some other odd creatures. For a shallow site there was lots of life. Others have encounted weedy sea dragons here.

After our dive we headed back for lunch and then a second dive at Target Beach (pictured above 1ds, 17-40, f8, 1/640). This beach is as pretty as any along Jervis Bay. Whilst the lighting is perhaps harsh, I still find it shows how pristine the place is. From the photo you can also tell that the beach is overcrowded (by looking carefully you will find a family playing in the water) Im not sure how both groups fit on this beach. The object of this dive was to catch some abalone for dinner and we achieved it well. The abalone was prepared by Colin (pictured below 1ds, 17-40, f7.1, 1/80, iso 1250, bounced flash) and cooked with garlic, white wine, onion and lightly seasoned. The abalone tasted great and was mixed with plenty of different rieslings. Great way to finish a day of exercise and fun.
